Nightmare Week!!

Well Evie had her first sickness. And it was AWFUL!! It started with a fever, then diarrhea (still), followed by vomiting. Being under 60 days old you have to go to the ER (which was at like 4:30am on Friday). They do "standard" tests. Which includes a LOT of poking with needles. Her arm is still bruised. The most traumatic was holding her head, trying to comfort her while she got a spinal tap. All to find out it is a virus and we could give her some Tylenol. We have been changing MANY, MANY diapers and dealing with the WORST diaper rash I have ever seen. They say it will take 2 weeks to get all the way back to normal. She is happier but we are avoiding the outside world (except for me going to the gym) until she gets her shots next week.

Which means we have cancelled Xmas parties and going to visit the family for the holidays. I just can't do it to her! Sorry for my absence here, but that is why.

As for weight loss - this week yielded a 2.5 pound loss. I will take it!! My knees have been killing me so much that I finally went to the doc and got put on some steroids. Not sure if it will help but I need them to be better. I know I need stronger knees to help get the weight off and I need to get the weight off to have better knees. There is no way to win at this point. How do the people on Biggest Loser do it?

Hope you all had a WAY better week than we did!!

My boys used to get THE WORST diaper rash ever...bleeding...it was actually a yeast infection and the best thing for it was air and lotromin (athlete's food cream). Hope she feels better soon!

Poor baby! A spinal tap sounds so extreme, yet I can't imagine they'd do it unless it was necessary.

Great job on your 2.5 lbs!

Poor thing! We had it bad too. For Owl this is how I cleared his right up.
1. Baking Soda Bath/Pat dry
2. Neosporin
3. Butt Paste
4. Corn starch powder "pressed on"

Basically layer her like a cake!

Glad you are back on the loss wagon.

I did a lot of what what the girl in the above comment did. Lots of butt paste (the best) and corn starch. My littlest daughter would get diaper rash really bad to were it would just be raw and bloody. :( So about the baby being sick. I can't believe they did a spinal tap holy crap. When we went in to the hematologist to see if Z is a hemophiliac they had to poke like 7 times for the one darn test because they could not get a vain. They almost sent us to ultrasound because they couldn't find a vain. i am sure watching and console her while they gave her a spinal tap was AWFUL. Well here's to a speedy recovery for little Ms. Evie and a bravo for the -2.5lb. YOU GO GIRL

Okay, I have been lurking on your blog for oh, maybe a year now? Followed your pregnancy with great interst (I have an 8 month old daughter) and actually found wifi in the Caribbean so I could see if you had given birth. Now I completely understand why it's hard to blog with a new baby, but man oh man - I'm dying to hear how your little munchkin is doing! Also, I am needing some weight loss inspiration - basically I still have the 20 pounds I gained during my pregnancy, partially because I haven't been able to get to the gym or to yoga much since my daughter was born, but mostly because I have developed a full-blown sugar addiction and eat dessert with impunity these days. Ugh. So, posts please! Updates on baby and weight loss:)
