Get Rid of Old Clothes

As I have lost weight, I have done 2 major closet clean outs. I did one at about 40 pounds lost and another at about 90 pounds lost. Now, I did keep a sampling of my clothes from when I was at my heaviest but they are packed away (where they will stay unless I need them for an interesting picture).

I even cleaned out most of the dresser. I say most because I missed a drawer. The one on the top. You know the one....the one with the undies in it. Even though I have cleaned things out twice I have only bought new undies once. I got a bunch of Hanes at Wally World (which I hate shopping at but they are for the thrifty shopper) because I do not believe in wasting money and I was not sure what size to get. When I was only shopping at Lane Bryant, the decision was easy. But now, I feel like I am trying to learn the metric system because things are sized differently. Yet, I will adjust.

This morning, I opened that top drawer and noticed some black undies. Since I was wearing black pants I thought they would work well, so I grabbed them. Sidenote - ever since losing weight I try not buy things in black, even undies, because it seems like that was all I use to own (you know, because it so slimming - sometimes).

All I had to do was put them on to realize that they were a little.....shall we say.....unattractive but roomy! Did I take them off? Nope, just wore them. Without too much trouble, until Zumba. Here is a lesson learned: when you take a dancy class with lots of twisting, extra roomy undies will go straight up your bum crack everytime! Thank goodness I was in the back corner where I could re-adjust quite easily. Still not a pleasant sight, I am sure.

When I got home and changed out of them, did I throw them away? Nope. They are sitting in my dirty clothes pile. Note to self - when you finally finish blogging and get off your lazy arse....throw out those damn wedgie givers!

So please take the time to get rid of your old clothes (I know if feels good when they hang off your butt - a true measure of your accomplishments - but they look dreadful. Yes, they really do!) and don't forget that top drawer!

yeah, I used to wear light grey, dark grey and black with some brown and navy....my closet looks like a rainbow now. I wonder what it'll look like at goal. It will probably sear the retina. Glad your underwear doesn't fit lol.

Old clothes that are too big do look and feel dreadful. It was very freeing to give away (or throw away) all my fat clothes the minute I outgrew them!!

Congrats to you. You deserve nice new everything.

95 percent of my knickers are black lol. black seems like such a safe colour when you're fat. I need a splash of colour.

lmao. like you gave yourself a wedgie. too funny. throw them out girly!

I haven't lost enough to downsize yet but when I do woot.

I am keeping one size 20 pants, and one size 22 dress for the before and after pictures=)

But I am almost ready to give away a few pants. I totally get the underwear dilema, I have some that are falling off of me, what do I do?? Keep washing them and putting them back.

Hah! I recently cleaned out my closet and you're exactly right, I skipped over the undies. They are pretty stretchy so I think they aren't too unwearable quite yet, but I do notice that they twist themselves into some odd shapes now that my butt is smaller. :-)

ok this posting may be the final push of motivation to buy new undies too! Hubby keeps telling me too...but I hate to spend money on not-so-fun stuff

I have this pair of stretchy comfy awesome cotton pants that I used to wear when I was bingeing. Now I wear them when I exercise. They have a drawstring that I've never needed to adjust but as I started my run this morning I realized that they were, um....sagging with going south with every single step! I stopped immediately and tied the drawstring tight against my belly (I still have one of those) and made sure those pants were going NOWHERE for the rest of the workout.

Needless to say, I think it's time I get rid of those binge pants/workout pants and buy something without a history.

LOL!!! I just recently had to buy new SMALLER undies! I guess I was squeezing into the ones I had all of those years because it took nearly 65 pounds to drop a size in underwear! lol

Hah! The perils of baggy underwear! Time to get you some sexy new numbers, lady.

Haha, nice. I think the thing I'm most quickest to update is the underwear. I like a pair of good fitting boxers. But I totally agree, the older, much bigger stuff just doesn't look good. And neither does picking a wedgie :D

Thanks, I think this post was for me! I am down to a size 8, but currently I am wearing a size 12, yes wayyy too big, I though they worked baggie and all but I think your right time to get rid of them!
