I've just started my weight-loss journey and I've been inspired to start a blog of my own. It's nice to have the feeling that "I'm not alone," a feeling I haven't had in the past when trying to lose weight. Thanks again!Blairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14225932155657241823noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5354314518349892047.post-80449688860653891892010-03-23T08:04:53.644-07:002010-03-23T08:04:53.644-07:00Okay....I'm a curious person by nature so I lo...Okay....I'm a curious person by nature so I looked it up.

Not that I doubted him.... but Fat Lazy Guy is correct. Here's what I dug up on Wikipedia (Directly Quoted):

Cottage pie refers to an English meat pie made with beef mince and with a crust made from mashed potato. A variation on this dish using lamb mince is known as Shepherd's pie.

The term cottage pie is known to have been in use in 1791,[1][2] when potato was being introduced as an edible crop affordable for the poor (cf. "cottage" meaning a modest dwelling for rural workers).

In early cookery books, the dish was a means of using leftover roasted meat of any kind, and the pie dish was lined with mashed potato as well as having a mashed potato crust on top.

The term "shepherd's pie" did not appear until the 1870s,and since then it has been used synonymously with "cottage pie", regardless of whether the principal ingredient was beef or mutton.

***********************************

I found it interesting. Sorry for the long comment ;)BornSquishyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13395661092511605858noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5354314518349892047.post-8564842807384120322010-03-23T07:59:36.324-07:002010-03-23T07:59:36.324-07:00Looks really good.... but I have to admit I'm ...Looks really good.... but I have to admit I'm not a huge fan of peas & usually leave them out.

Fat Lazy Guy - I never heard that said about Sheppard's Pie before (lamb, not beef). I was born in England and my mom always made it with beef. I always thought that Sheppard's Pie originated from England (and that my moms was the best), but my belief wasn't based on any other fact than I was British and Brits eat lots of Sheppard's Pie.BornSquishyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13395661092511605858noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5354314518349892047.post-35595736405608415932010-03-22T14:08:24.321-07:002010-03-22T14:08:24.321-07:00yum yum. looks delicious.
